The Panasonic VariCam 35 is capable of capturing scenes in 4K (4096 x 2160) and UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution, thanks to its super 35mm format full-size single-chip MOS sensor. This feature also offers low noise, high sensitivity, wide dynamic range, and cinematic depth of field.
Ideal for producing broadcast TV shows and commercials, Panasonic has developed the V-Gamut so that the VariCam 35 can provide a wider color gamut. The dynamic range is extended because of its “V-Log” gamma curve, which is able to capture the 14-plus stops of the camera. Along with this, its 14-plus dynamic range also assures you precise image rendering.
As for the ISO, the VariCam 35 offers two native settings: 800 and 5,000. Two dedicated analog circuits are equipped on the imager’s pixels. These allow the camera to have higher sensitivity without increasing its noise level.

This grading information can be recorded together with the image data of the Main Recorder, Codex V-RAW Recorder, and Sub Recorder.
With its two independent recorders, the VariCam 35 allows you to record in two different codecs and formats. You can also select from V-Log, V-709, or grading so that the ungraded 4K master/V-Log and graded HD dailies can simultaneously be recorded. As for the sub-recorder, 2K/HD can be recorded with a lower rate AVC-Proxy file. Moreover, the Main and Sub Recorders can store a file with the exact same filename and recording time.
The rear section of the VariCam 35 can dock the Codex V-RAW 2.0 Recorder so you don’t have to worry about cable connections. The V-RAW 2.0 supports uncompressed recording of RAW files that can reach up to 120 fps. With this Panasonic VariCam, you can record in 4K or UHD resolutions by AVC- Intra4K444, 422, or LT codecs. It also supports AVC-Intra2K444/422 for 2K recording, along with AVC-Intra444/422/200/100 for HD recording. Apple ProRes is supported by this camera for 2K or HD acquisition, which enables ProRes 444 XQ/4444/422 HQ/422/422 LT recording.
