The RED Epic MX is a 5K digital camera available for rent in Thailand.
The RED Epic MX is the highly anticipated successor to the original RED One and it certainly delivers on its promise. The camera builds on its predecessor’s features in almost every way. The camera offers increased dynamic range of up to 18 stops through an HDRx feature, increased frame rate capabilities of up to 300 frames per second at 2k and 120 frames per second at full 5K as well as a host of new accessories, all in a more compact, modular body design.
Most importantly, the Epic solves a lot of the problems that plagued the RED One system. An increased sensor readout speed decreases rolling shutter artifacts and a new SSD system eliminates the notoriously buggy RED Raid Drives. Not to mention the fact that the camera now boots much faster and is much less prone to firmware crashes and other issues that were a fact of life with RED until now.
The rental includes the touchscreen LCD is a revelation, allowing the user quick access to all the menu settings as well as a handy framing and playback monitor at the tips of their fingers.
RED has based the system around a modular concept, meaning that a wide variety of options are available for rent with the camera packages, including different lens mounts, support gear, monitoring solutions, post production hardware and much more.
